西湖有著名的十景，柳浪闻莺，曲院风荷，花港观鱼，平湖秋月等。沿着我们脚下的这条路往前走，就是断桥残雪。你们知道断桥为什么叫断桥吗?这个名字得名于唐朝。古代时，断桥上有门，门上有檐，到下雪的时候，中间的一段雪都在门檐上，桥上只有两头有雪，远远望去，桥像断了一样。一到冬天，西湖水面上就结了一层薄薄得冰，在太阳的照耀下泛着银光。雪后，断桥上堆积着一层厚厚的雪，白如银花。远远望去，似断不断，断似不断，所以呀，来这的游客都说“断桥不断”呢!
提到断桥，大家肯定会想到神话故事《白蛇传》吧。传说啊，白素贞是修炼了千年的蛇妖，为了报答书生许仙的救命之恩，化为人形，嫁给了他。有一天，和尚法海告诉许仙，白素贞其实是千年蛇妖。许仙将信将疑，按照法海的办法，在端午节让白素贞喝下雄黄酒。白素贞现出了原形，与法海斗法，水漫金山寺，触犯了天条，被法海压在雷峰塔下，至今还没有出来。这个有名的神话故事，就是在西湖发生的呢。
