While data, evidence, logic, and reason provide one way to make sense of the world, the arts provide another: a distinct, yet complimentary mode of understanding oneself and experiencing the world, beyond facts and figures. Engagement with the arts has been shown to elevate resilience in the face of change, empathy and understanding of others, and capacity to solve problems.
And in today’s volatile world, having a well-developed creative capacity, in addition to strong analytic skills, is paramount. In fact, a 20xx World Economic Forum report placed creativity as one of the three most important work-related skills anticipated for 20xx.
So, my message to you today is simple: Never relinquish your paintbrush, your pen, your musical instrument, or any other creative tool at your disposal, because there is always another stroke, another stanza, another measure, another chapter in the work that will forever be known as you.
And when you see an opportunity to engage with the arts, or to support the arts, embrace it with all you’ve got.

Duke accepted me as an ‘early decision’ candidate and, for the first time, I felt seen, and heard and valued. One of the finest universities in the nation was willing to bet on me. I was, and I remain, eternally grateful for the opportunity to attend and graduate in the Trinity Class of 1979. My Duke degree and our Blue Devil family have opened more doors than I could have imagined and stood in support when I needed it the most.
Graduates, today, we still find ourselves in the same morass of exclusion and intolerance I experienced all those years ago. The high degree of acrimony is unyielding and discouraging, but I want to make sure you hear this: Discouragement doesn’t have to be debilitating. If anything, discouragement should drive you to open your own doors and design your own future.
And just remember when you open those doors, there will be people on the other side. Some of them will be cheerleaders, and some of them will be critics. The challenges you face on your uphill climb will often come with an audience, because the reality is this: Adversity doesn’t happen always in private.
I know this all too well.

Does this sound familiar? Today, perhaps more than ever, it is easy to know what you’re against. And it’s far more difficult to say what you’re for.
What we’re against is going to be different for each of us. Maybe you’re against border walls and I’m against guns; your neighbor is against trade wars and your cousin is against abortion. For some, capitalism is the problem, while others fear the specter of socialism. By this point, I bet all of you are against sitting in old buildings with no air conditioning, listening to a long speech! So, I’ll get to the point…
How many of you have ever seen a Marx Brothers movie? [Right, pretty good.] So, although I’m not mistaken for Groucho Marx as often since I shaved my moustache, I…I still do…do have a weakness for his humor.
And one of Groucho’s best performances, of course, is when he plays a college president. (It is a funny role!) So, in the opening scene of the movie Horse Feathers, Groucho, the new president of Huxley College, is told that the trustees have “a few suggestions” for him. Then he breaks into this song:
“I don’t know what they have to say
It makes no difference anyway
Whatever it is, I’m against it
No matter what it is or who commenced it
I’m against it
Your proposition may be good
But let’s have one thing understood:
Whatever it is, I’m against it.”

大家好，我叫。今年XX岁，恰好弱冠之年。大学里学的是经济学专业，虽然还算努力学习，结果还是学业不精。我是本地武汉人，但是很少说武汉话，可不要奇怪，我觉得普通话比较绅士一点，呵呵……
我的兴趣爱好不多，算少了，就台球、五子棋和看书而已。喜欢台球的，我以后可以你做陪练，水平很菜鸟，包你赢个够。五子棋就不那么外行了，貌似多年来还没有输过，有兴趣的可以切磋一下。看书是很多人的业余生活部分，就不多说了，不过看书效率呢，不是夸张，真的不错，可以达到两小时十万字的标准，如果你是喜欢精读的话，就不用和我比效率了。
现在刚刚从校园里解放出来，对工作不是很了解，希望前辈们多多指点。在工作中有什么做得不好的地方，希望多多谅解，毕竟大家都是从新人做起的嘛。时间过的真快，大学生活要结束了，现在也走上工作岗位了，新的起点，新的开始，我愿与大家一起努力，为公司再造辉煌。也祝愿公司业务发展蒸蒸日上，大家工作顺顺利利。大家想更多的了解我，以后可以多多交流。谢谢，就这么多吧。
